Rental Policies
All bookings must be made through the office of the North Woodside Community Centre. Users must be 19 years of age or older to rent the facility. The Facility Rental Form must be signed within 5 business days to confirm space booked. A 24 hour cancellation notice must be given by phone in order not to be billed for the space. Email is not to be used for cancellation as it is not reliable.

All groups are responsible for your own setup and cleanup of the rental space. By accepting this contract, the user agrees to accept all responsibility for any damages to property or facilities caused by their usage and/or damages or injuries sustained by participants or spectators and agree to indemnify the North Woodside Community Centre safe and harmless of any and all claims.
The user must assure adequate supervision and control at all times during the rental period. Enough adults to child ratio must be maintained.
Building/Staff: No admittance to the building will be allowed unless office staff is present.
Office staff is scheduled to arrive 30 minutes before any scheduled booking to prepare room for rental. Because of Covid-19, do not arrive more than 15 minutes before your rental time as there is no waiting in the hallway. Staff will be on site for the duration of your rental and have been delegate certain tasks. Please respect his/her instructions. The Centre Manager is authorized to take any action necessary to ensure contract conditions are being followed. This may include closing down the event. Any accidents/incidents are to be reported to staff on site and appropriate forms filled out.
No Smoking is permitted in any Halifax Regional Municipalities building or on the property if there is not a designated smoking spot.
The consumption and/or selling of Alcoholic Beverage is prohibited. Failure to comply will result in loss of future bookings and priority status. Centre Manager reserves the right to approve alcohol for special social events. Alcohol special license must be obtained by renter once approved by office.
Decorations: decorations should be limited to table and/or designated areas. The use of confetti, staples, tacks, scotch tape and nails is prohibited. Masking tape and stick tack is allowed.
Behavior/Language: You will be held responsible for the behavior of your clients, guests, participants and spectators and must abide by all notices and regulations posted in the facility. Improper behavior/offensive language, verbal abuse, disrespect to the staff and/or the public will not be tolerated and will be grounds for loss of permits and /or future booking privileges.
Storm Closures: A message is put on the main answering machine to inform all users if the Centre has made the decision to close. This message is posted by 4:00pm for evening bookings and by 7:00 am for day bookings. We also use Facebook and our website to announce.
Payments: The user agrees to pay all rental fees in full within 7 days of booking the Centre. We accept debit, MasterCard, Visa, e-Transfer and Cash. No cheques!
Contract Amendments: The North Woodside Community Association has the right to amend/cancel a rental for the following reasons: Holidays; Renovations; Repairs; Poor Weather Conditions; Special Events of NWCA; EMO. Refunds will be given to any paid rental when alternate arrangements cannot be made.

- Any damage caused to the facility or equipment used by your group, its’ participants and/or clients.
- Arriving on time and must be in rental space before guests/participants are allowed to enter.
- The behavior of all guests, clients, participants and spectators.
- Maintaining and cleaning rental area during and immediately following usage.
- Being aware of all rules and abiding by all notices and regulations/usage rules posted in the facility, and memos sent re: rules.
Your group must:
- Start and end the rental time as indicated on the contract.
- You must include enough time for setup, arrival of guests/participants and cleanup in the rental time when booking.
- Adhere to all regulations as outlined on the contract or as issued in conjunction with the contract.
- Restore all equipment used during the rental to its’ proper location.
