Chief Instructor:
Our chief instructor is Frank Zinck. Frank holds a fifth degree black belt and a Menkyo Kaiden Masters ranking
in Kyushu-Ryu Ju-Jitsu. He also holds a second degree black belt in Karate-dp Shotokai and is also ranked in several
other styles and systems.
Master Zinck is the senior instructor of RSAD (Rape Self Awareness Defense) in Nova Scotia,
a self-defense workshop for women offered throughout metro. He is also a recognized senior NICT instructor and technical
advisor as well as a graduate of Tactical Academy of Controlling Techniques.
Master Zinck is best known for his work helping to develop confident youth and is the creator of the internationally
renowned "Bully Proof" program. Bully Proof is assertiveness training for kids and teaches kids how to deal with schoolyard
violence in non-violent ways. Local law enforcement often refers parents to Frank's lectures and seminars.
Our Regularly Scheduled Programs are:
- Kyushu-Ryu Ju-Jitsu
-One of the most exciting martial art styles available. It's dynamic
and full of energy and because Kyushu-Ryu is a traditional Japanese non-tournament martial art and is a street oriented style,
its main focus is on technical perfection and realistic self-defense skills rather than tournament accolades.
- Karate-do Shotokai
-A non-competitive form of karate. Rather than winning tournaments, the
emphasis is on mental and physical development through the study and practice of the art. -Movements in Shotokai are generally
flowing and full of vitality and energy, while always applying the principles of harmony and relaxation, and avoiding the
use of brute force. This contrasts with sports martial arts, where young, strong and aggressive students seem to dominate. -The
practice of Shotokai is physically and mentally challenging but it is a martial art that everyone can enjoy.
- W.A.S.P.
-Is "Women's Awareness Survival Program" and was created by Johanne Connolly to be a
dynamic self-defense system for adult women 13 years old and above. This is not a martial arts class but rather a street
oriented self-defense and rape awareness workshop with the tactics of Ju-Jitsu, weapons of TACT and techniques that employ
gross motor skills making them easy to retain and can be realistically used and remembered during combat. Learn the
skills of assertiveness training, while participating in an all female class with a female instructor. Feel safe to
openly discuss scenarios, and prepare yourself.
