Covid-19 Policies

The North Woodside Community Association has always, and will always, strive for the safety of every person within the North Woodside Community Centre. 

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue to follow all the guidelines of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the Governments of both NS and Canada, as well as the guidelines of the Municipality of Halifax. 
 
All bookings are required to review this information, adhere to and follow all the guidelines that have been put in place and ensure that their participants are aware of these guidelines.
 
By following these guidelines, together we can ensure that the North Woodside Community Centre is a safe place for all.

Do not come to the Centre if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 or are not feeling well.
Masks are recommended in all common areas of the Centre.  Masks are recommended to be worn in hallways, stairways and washrooms.  

Bookings and their participants that are located on the upper floor shall enter the through front entrance. All members/participants must enter through main door and exit through south side door. Front door is only used to enter not exit.  Bookings renting the gym are will enter through the gym door and the main contact of the booking will ensure proof of double vaccination for all their members/participants. 
  • Members/participants as soon as they enter the building are to sanitize their hands using the sanitizer that is located on the wall on the right as you enter on the main floor and when you enter through the gym the sanitizer is located on the right side on the wall as soon as you enter the area.
  • Anyone not feeling well should stay home.  Anyone showing any symptoms of Covid-19 should contact 811.​​
  • Bookings are responsible to disinfect any hard surfaces used during their rental. All tables and chairs used must be disinfected. 
  • All bookings and their participants on the main level will use main washrooms. Rentals in the gym have access to the washroom located in the gym. Keep your hands clean.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cough or sneeze into the bend of your arm.
  • Avoid touching surfaces people touch often.
  • Instead of a handshake, give a friendly wave or elbow bump.
  • Use any necessary personal protective equipment, as directed.
  • Wash or sanitize hands often.  There is hand sanitizers located in all rooms.
Common Areas
  • Recommend wearing of masks while in all common areas.
  • Parents or participants are asked to wait outside of the building until their class time to avoid congestion in the hallways.
 
Equipment
  • Bookings are responsible for disinfecting any equipment stored at the Centre that is used and also responsible for cleaning and disinfecting any tables and chairs used.
 
Washrooms
  • Each washroom will have disinfectant spray, appropriate cleaning supplies that can be used throughout the day.
  • Water fountains are off limits and not available for use.

NWCC Customer Service Safety Measures Currently in Place
  • Plexiglas installed
  • Contactless payments
  • 2m (6 ft.) distance between staff terminals
  • Hand sanitizer readily available, masks, and gloves as needed
  • Minimize paper handling to member/ guest

After Hours Deep Clean
  • When building is closed, all areas will be disinfected by NWCC cleaning staff.
  • NWCC Staff will go above and beyond normal cleaning measures for floors, walls, washrooms, etc.
